BIO-FUEL E20 premiere in racing use in classic cars

While there is a lot of talk in politics and the media about climate protection and sustainability, the starters at the 1000km race on this topic at the Nürburgring immediately set a clear example: Historic vehicles - mostly built between 1950 and 1980 or 1990 - are considerably older and in better shape than some vehicles in normal everyday traffic. These classic cars have been in service for many years, are meticulously maintained and kept in top condition. A good sign of sustainability.

As in the past, when it was said: "Everyone praises what Nürburgring tests", the world-famous Eifel race track was once again the "fastest test laboratory in the world" when two teams started the 1000km race with a high-performance fuel "E20" - bio-fuel from CropEnergies and Mabanaft. But also some Orga vehicles started with climate-friendly E20.

The Kremer-Racing team from Cologne brought a Porsche 911 RS into the racing action and the Luxembourg team of Bob Kellen, Donny Wagner and Y. Munhowen came with the 1970s Ford Mustang from Ford-Wengler and started on the test with 38 laps and 6 hours 45 minutes of non-stop racing for man and machine.

Green Mobility Future – Institute for Alternative Fuels - located as Connecting Partner, directly at the Nürburgring, provided the teams with this fuel with 20% renewable ethanol and 100 octane and for networking with CropsEnergie, the media and teams.

Tested in motorsports and traffic, the fuel provides a good example of CO2 Reduction.

The two teams mentioned above had started without any problems as ambassadors for Bio-Fuel and also did well in the race.

In the end, the Porsche with start number 111 unfortunately dropped out - mechanical damage to the drive shaft could not be repaired despite replacement. The Ford Mustang with start number 104 finished with all other competitors after a brilliant race and was 26th in the overall classification.

All the pace and safety cars and the other orga vehicles that were running on E20 also showed how easy it can be to use when motorsport is made more environmentally friendly in this way, for example in the fuel usage field. Because renewable ethanol has at least 70% less CO2 emissions than fossil fuel.

With the 1000km race, a good platform with exciting ranges was used to make the topic more widely known.
