Timekeeping is as much a part of motor sport as the engine, the track and the finish line. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Nürburgring, a limited-edition special model from Hanhart commemorates the history of the ADAC Eifel Race – the race with which the Nürburgring began its sporting history in 1927.
A century begins with a race
The Nürburgring was officially opened on 18 June 1927. The event kicked off with the Eifel Race for motorbikes, followed a day later by the car race, which was won by Rudolf Caracciola. This marked the beginning of a motorsport history that continues to shape the Nürburgring to this day.
2027 marks the 100th anniversary of the circuit’s opening. To mark the occasion, a special edition developed in collaboration with Hanhart commemorates the connection between the Nürburgring, the Eifel races and mechanical timekeeping. The chronograph is offered as a set comprising a mechanical stopwatch, a commemorative plaque and a certificate of authenticity. The edition is limited to 100 pieces.
When seconds decide between victory and a place
Timekeeping and motor sport have always been closely linked. In endurance races in particular, it is not just the speed at any one moment that counts, but the sum of many laps, split times and tactical decisions. For decades, mechanical stopwatches were standard equipment for timekeepers at racetracks, making fractions of a second visible.
Hanhart can look back on a long history of precision timekeeping. As early as the 1920s, the company was producing stopwatches that were also used in sport. This special edition draws on this tradition and links it to the historic occasion: 100 years of the Nürburgring and 100 years since the Eifel Race that marked the opening of the circuit.

A piece of the Nürburgring to mark the anniversary
The chronograph is called RACEMASTER Eifelrennen Edition and is designed as a limited edition set of 100 pieces. In addition to the watch, the set includes a mechanical stopwatch – a deliberate nod to timekeeping in historic motorsport. A commemorative plaque and a certificate of authenticity complete the set.
As such, this special edition represents not so much a single race weekend as a whole century of motor racing at the Nürburgring. From the 1927 Eifel Race to today’s endurance races, one constant remains: in the end, it’s the time that counts.
