Fifty years ago, the launch of the Porsche 924 marked the beginning of a new era in the sports car manufacturer’s history. This anniversary will be celebrated as part of the ADAC 1000 km race weekend with a special highlight: on Saturday, 19 September 2026, the “PORSCHE FOREVER YOUNG Celebration Transaxle” will take place on the full Nürburgring circuit, including the Nordschleife.
Owners and fans of the Transaxle models will have the rare opportunity to complete a few laps together on the combination of the Grand Prix circuit and the legendary Nordschleife. Entries for the anniversary race are now open.
Driving dynamics that still thrill today
With the Porsche 924, Porsche unveiled its first front-engined sports car with a transaxle drivetrain in 1976. The gearbox, positioned on the rear axle, ensured near-perfect weight distribution and gave the cars exceptionally balanced handling. The 924 was followed by the 944, the 968 and the Gran Turismo 928 – models that still have a large following today and are regularly seen in historic motorsport.
It is precisely on the demanding full Nürburgring circuit, with its legendary Nordschleife, that the transaxle models can impressively demonstrate their dynamic handling qualities.
Joint project at the ADAC 1000 km race weekend
The “PORSCHE FOREVER YOUNG Celebration Transaxle” is being organised jointly by DAMC 05 Veranstaltungs-GmbH and Solitude GmbH. The PR and events agency is thus continuing its successful collaboration with Marian Patek in 2026, adding a special highlight for Porsche enthusiasts to the programme of the ADAC 1000 km race weekend.
